June 8

Had a chance to talk to Brenton and Jenna. They sound so good. Then we talked with my brother, Matt. They both gave us great encouragement, thank you!

All your comments keep us going.

We are near Pass Mountain Hut. Good 18.4 mile hike today. Views at the Franklin cliffs was breathtaking. Would love to have watched the sunset there over the valley. Stopped at Skyland Resort for lunch Gotta love this area Hiked the road a couple miles so we could see the tunnel at Mary's Rock.

We were like children today. Walking the stone guard rail on the side of the road. Found ourselves playful and curious. I believe it is because there is so little on our minds. It is easier to just be right here in this moment. It is the way carefree childhood is. I am thankful for today.

Met Glogg a week or so ago and hiked a bit with him today. He is a pastry cook not a pastry chef (curious about the difference but didn't ask) from the Big Apple. He has hiked the trail in NY and gave us a tip where we can see the city skyline from the trail and also where we can catch a 45 min train ride to the city. We may try a little pan handling-LOL.
We bush whacked to a campsite along skyline drive. It is another beautiful evening laying in our tent starring at the large trees, listing to the birds and other critters and smelling the fresh mountain air.
