This morning we will go go the ATC (Appalachian Trail Conservancy) to sign in and have our picture taken. It is exciting to have made it to this point. Although it is a few miles short of the half way point, it is the celebratory half way.
Where we had lunch, there was a table of thru hikers who we have seen regularly. Left to right: Rhino, Deep, Cheeba, and Socks. All but Cheeba are from Germany and Cheeba speaks German I Told Socks I hope we finish together in Khatadin.
We hiked 20 miles into HF. It was amazing. First over the bridge where the Potomac and the Shenandoah come together. Into this adorable historic town. Passing the Jefferson rock that Thomas Jefferson would view the rivers from. A historic "mansion on the hill, and into the town filled with buildings and stories that make up our history. We are going to spend time there this morning before we begin the second half of our journey.
When we hit 1186.4 miles, we will begin a thousand mile count down. We will no longer count how many miles we have completed but how many are left.
