Great friends are hard to find, harder to leave and impossible to forget.
Sonya and I had a Super Zero day yesterday with Mark and Julie. Stayed in Waynesboro Thursday and Friday night. Rained most of the day so great zero day. Resupply at outfitter and Kroger, then re-packing. So my pack weighed 45lb so Gravity helped me go through it (she LOVES doing that!) and we got it down to 37lb. But I am gonna miss some of that stuff. Oh well, brushing your teeth is over rated anyway. :)
Went to movies then dinner at Mill Creek Grille in Staunton. Nice to have a car. Amazing ribs! Very excited that night for hiking!
Today Mark and Julie slack packed the first 10 miles and we met them at Tye
River to start our hike. Funny thing about rivers, they are usually at the bottom of the hill, and this one was no exception...
Rugged trails but nice waterfall views. We are at Maupin Field shelter trying to avoid the Copperhead snakes everyone has been telling us like to hang out here. So far so good. Sonya got her trail name today: Tenderfoot. We hope they wont be too tender. To bed early tonight. Will sleep well.
