Made it to Big Meadow Campground at 2:00 and thinking we will take the rest of the day off to relax in the sun. Sun feels so darn good!!!!
Saw 2 bear today-seems to be a common occurrence now.
The Shenandoah Park is a place to visit again. It has a paved road some 200 miles long that has no traffic lights or merging roads so you can just cruise through the mountains like it is your own private park. There are no businesses or homes just mountains and wilderness and a number of overlooks that you pull over and see breath taking views without getting out of your car-but you better get out and smell the air and listen to the silence other than natures sounds. There are a few campgrounds along the way with camp stores, laundry/shower facilities and restrooms. Also a park restaurant.
This place is great and I will return.
Listened to a hiker on the phone today having to throw in the towel-his hammer toe was giving him problems and got so bad he lanced it-did not solve his problem and is headed home.
Looking to meet up with my mother in law and Scooter on Monday to canoe 40 miles down the Shenandoah River in 3 days-camping on islands on the river should be fun if weather is good.
Big hiking day planned for tomorrow.
