We stayed in our tent until 10 AM in hopes the rain would subside. The rain continued. We were the last ones to leave the shelter and that was a first. Since we could not sleep any longer, we entertained ourselves with music. We sang Riding the Storm Out by REO, and Pushing On. Brandy is one of our favorites. Then we knew we had to face it so we put on our wet clothes, took down our wet camp and off we went.
Mark now calls me scabby because that's what my nose looks like. I was enjoying walking in the rain because the terrain started out nicely. We came across some large ponds and a bog. The volunteers of the trail placed planks of wood over some of the extremely wet areas. What I don't like is how slippery everything is. There is a fine line between cautiously confident and fearful. I just want to stay upright. Mentally and physically I need a good hike today. Had lunch when the rain turned to a drizzle. Neither of us feel much like singing now.
Mark has fallen twice, His falls were much more graceful than mine. He is not hurt but he is frustrated. We come to a mile section of steep downhill with slippery rocks and roots. My body has become tense from the hours of super caution over each step. Because of my fall yesterday, I have this sick nervous feeling in my stomach. This fear is not helpful in maneuvering through this obstacle course. Mark is feeling it as well. He takes the lead to find the safest footing. Takes us about an hour to get to the bottom. I so wanted to let go of the fear but could not shake it. When we get to the bottom, we just sit. My fatigue is from the mental workout. I stayed upright through it all and expect to find my confidence soon. We have six miles to go and I don't think I can finish today. Need a break from the tension. It does not appear that the weather is going to clear. We call it a day.

I'm so sorry you're having a difficult time. And thankful the fall wasn't more serious. I am praying for you daily, both for safety and tenacity! You are in a mental valley today but the mountaintop is coming! March on my friends, we are all cheering for you here.
