June 30th. We've been spoiled silly

This morning Ken made us breakfast His home is this bed and breakfast so it feels strange walking around a closed establishment We slept good but not long enough so we are feeling tired when we finally get on the trail. This is the second time since we left home that we stayed up so late and there is a price to pay

This section of the trail is very difficult. We come to the Knife's Edge. Large narrow rocks lined up on an angle. We are carefully choosing our footing and balancing on top of these crooked rocks. Very dangerous because it's a long way down on the one side if you fall and did I mention rocky. The view from here is spectacular but you keep moving.

Bakers Oven Knob is next. Appropriate name in this heat We are doing a lot of bouldering which we like better than the little sharp rocks that have been poking our feet for days. It reminds me of being a kid just jumping from one boulder to another. What is hard is trying to keep track of where the trail is going. I have to stop to find the white blaze and then strategize a way over them. We are through this section and are so hot when we come across a cooler of cold pop and some oranges. I am amazed by this kindness that someone takes the time to leave for hikers. Best orange ever.

As we are getting close to ourfbccd goal, we lose the trail and find ourselves out on a dirt road. We come to an old store hoping for a cold drink when Stan pulls up and asks what we are looking for. We tell him a cold drink and the spoiling began. He took us to "the Patch". This is his mother in law, Joans, home. We meet his wife, Cindy and son, Ben, exchange student Tielan and a friend. They feed us delicious chicken sandwiches, Arizona Tea over ice, and a swim in the pool. Talk about trail magic. I felt like I was on a weekend vacation enjoying this play land. They are getting ready to go kayaking down the Leheigh river with friends. This is where Cindy grew up so there is lots of family close by. Great people! Great time! After a short afternoon, we felt like we have friends in Penn County. Could not have had a better day. Stan drove us to Palmerton where we are staying for two days.

There is a courthouse with an area in the basement that was built to be a jail house. They never opened it up as one so they turned it into a hostile. You sign in at the police stations and can stay for free. They have bunks, a gym with locker room showers, and lots of space. Camanche, Spirit and Ys Guy are here taking a zero day tomorrow. The Honeymooners will get in some time tomorrow.

Tom and Sonya Shepard are stopping in town with the girls on their way to Boston. Can't wait to see them and hear about their mission trips.

We are going to enjoy our zero day tomorrow!!
