We've had to think strategy to change our rhythm. It's interesting how we are both feeling as if this is getting harder. Through the entire journey, we find ourselves on the same page 95 percent of the time. When one wants to slow down or do less miles, the other feels the same. Those days that you have the energy and gumption to go, the other does as well. It shows how much we feed off one another.
Our attitude or demeanor in the moment clearly affects the team. We don't know who goes first because we both just feel it.
We believe that tw towns and delis have become too much of a distraction. We need to get back to enjoying the hiking. The bugs have been bad so we can't break like we want to. When we stop moving, they congregate around us. So we rarely break which is hard on our feet and bodies. When we do break we get annoyed which takes a toll on our attitude. We are going to try putting up the tent for breaks so the bugs can't get to us and we can be comfortable. We are also going back to carrying our food to stay away from the pull of civilization. Life is more simple in the woods. The comforts outside the woods draws us in and away from our goal for that day.
We have to dig a little deeper now to finish strong. We have 700 miles to go and it will take some focus.
And in 700 more miles we will be there to pick you up for a celebratory lobster dinner in Maine!!! Think positive my friend our prayers our with you!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust after reading your blog, the hymn "Turn your eyes upon Jesus" drifted to my mind. Then yesterday, we sang it in church. I'm sensing a message there! Keep up the good work, you are doing great! And if you need to do some yelling in the woods,,, well I'm sure you won't be the only ones :-) Don and Sheri send their love. See you in Maaaaine!!!
