We awoke and headed into Hanover at 7 am. We had breakfast at Lou's-corned beef hash topped with two poached eggs, home fries and toast. Lucky for us Spirit couldn't finish her hub cap size blueberry pancakes so we did.
After breakfast we sat outside and ate our free hiker doughnut from Lou's while waiting for the outfitter to open. I ran down to the DOC-Dartmouth Outdoor Center located on campus to get some duct tape out of the hiker box. Went to outfitter's and did not accomplish anything except a free hiker snicker bar which I ate (I'm gonna be so fat when I get home).
Finally started hiking at 11:00. After about 2 miles we came across Sox the gal from Germany who was laying on the side of the trail with a migraine. We helped her to the next road luckily only .6 miles away and called a local trail angel who picked her up-hope she is better! Upon her departure we went hiking again.
We took a break on the side of the road and Long Shot a local hiker stopped and gave us a 7 layer delicious cookie that was probably a good 1000 calories. I could have saved it being I just ate 2 granola dips but couldn't stand it and ate it right after his truck was 20 yards away.
We are now camped just off the trail 14 miles north of Hanover. Not a bad day with the late start and rescue.
I am feeling very good and strong for the last week or so and hope it continues. Looking forward to the challenging White Mountains that we expect to be hitting this Sat or Sun.
