What We Have Learned on the At so far

1. You can eat a ham sandwich with no front teeth.

2. The last mile of the day feels like five miles.

3. Hiking to towns, shelters, water holes, hostels, or the wrong does not tally into your total mileage

4. Never say "we are almost there" or "it's all downhill from here"

5. 16 stinky hikers fit in a bunkhouse for 8.

6. Hitch hiking is easier when you are hungry.

7. The real "all you can eat" diet, just hike 15-20 miles a day with 35 pounds on your back.

8. Cheese Whiz explodes at high altitudes in your backpack.

9. Scooter and Driver can hike over 17 miles on a cold day.

10. You can experience all four seasons in 24 hours on the AT.

11. Snorting deer sound scary in the dark when you don't know what it is.

12. You can have extreme winds on one side of the mountain and stillness on the other.

13. Weather reports are useless.

14. If everyone stopped showering no one would stink.

15. Hiking trails turn into rivers when it rains.
