5/16 - 600 Miles and Counting

Weather was perfect today and much appreciated. Gordon's last full day with us and our best with him. Had some great views, water and my first SPAM meal.
Hit the trail at 7 am sharp and made our first ten miles by noon at Jenny Knob shelter for lunch and a rest. Then 6 miles later brought us to Kimberling Creek for a very cool swim in a good size river. A suspension bridge got us to the other side where I relaxed and watched the packs while Julie and Gordon ran a 1/2 mile down to a store for our planned dinner at Dismal Falls 2 miles up the trail.
I discovered a missing zip lock containing our trail guide book and a few other things most importantly our phone charger. Luckily a fellow hiker brought it to us-thanks Yukon!
Upon Gordon and Julie's return we hiked to the falls where we set up camp and ate fried SPAM and cheese sandwiches, Frito's, a few beers, a Ho Ho and the trail staple snickers bar. A full day and now we are laying down staring at the night sky and listening to the roaring and beautiful falls and yes we did swim in them.
We are going to enjoy our morning with an almost certain swim and head to Woods Hole Hostel where Gordon will leave us. Hard to believe a week has gone by already since he joined us.
Missing family and friends,
EZ-Mark

  2. SPAM Something Posing As Meat. I get your concern. Even worse we fried it up in coconut oil. Even worse, we loved it. It's called desperation :). EZ is still losing weight. He can consume large quantities of food!!!
