May 14

Zero Day. Decided to take a day off the hiking to avoid rain, heal my foot wounds and rest after 7 straight days of hiking. We took Advantage of our downtime and the availability of Gordon's wheels. Went to breakfast, drove ahead to Pearisburg to pickup our mail drop of re-supply and are enjoying Kendra's homemade Mother's Day cookies-yummy!

(Thanks Mom, Kendra, Brenton, Jenna, and Sean for all the letters, kind words, and cookies. Those boxes feel like Christmas to us, mom)

Hanging at Woodshole shelter while waiting for shuttle back to Pete and June's home that offered to house us this evening and drop us at the trailhead tomorrow morning.
BEAR ALERT-when we hit the trail we'll be heading for Jenkins shelter the scene of an aggressive bear 2 nights ago. First hand story is a bear came into camp about 12:30 am looking for a late night snack. He clawed through 1 tent occupied by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Robin -Rosanna remember him?) went over sat on another tent and then wandered over to a hammock did some heavy breathing within a foot of its occupant and meandered off. No injuries other than a tent.
Are there any lessons to be learned here? Help me out.
Sparrow may have flown by today saw his mark at restaurant this morning.
As I am sitting on the porch writing this it is a down pour-I think today was a good choice for resting however; No rain-no pain-no Maine. You can try but cannot avoid the rain-it's raining harder now! Hope tomorrow is better.
