Difficult
As we walk, my body is feeling stronger by the day. Getting over these mountains one by one seems more doable each day. I do now have some blood blisters on my heels that hurt most when I am putting my boots on to start off the day. I am not sure if the pain stops because they become numb, but it does subside after the first 100 steps. There is some stiffness in my hips that lessens once my body gets moving. When I am walking, all is well. Somewhere around 14 miles, my feet make it clear it's time to stop. We will set up camp, make some food, brush our teeth so we can add the toothpaste to the bear bag, hang the bear bag (with all the food and garbage) up into a tree, set up our tent, and finally climb in for some well deserved rest. This is when it becomes difficult. Any new bug bites start to itch, any aches and pains start yelling, and worst of all, my hips when I lay on them. I am a side sleeper. I fall asleep on my back, move to my side, wake up hurting. This continues through the night until I wish the sun would come up so we could get walking. My hope is that the body is going to adjust to sleeping on its back or the aches will lessen.
