In many ways, our thru hike on the AT has begun. 12-20-2011

We have chosen a departure date, March 29th. We leave for Springer Mountain in exactly 100 days. I remember talking with Pastor Kevin and Sandy about this dream many years ago. My first trip included thirty amazing youth at Clarkston Community Church. I knew that first adventure that it was the first of many. Even though I was almost attacked by a "bear" in the middle of the night, and Tim V would not leave his tent to save my life, I fell in love with God's amazing creation...the Appalacian Mountains. Cathy J, Trev W, and I were full of bruises from flinging that backpack on and off. Still, I could not wait to share this exciting place with Mark, my best friend and husband. One year later, Mark and I joined my brother, Gordon, on a five day hike. Mark also fell in love with this 2200 mile Appalacian Trail. First a thought, then a dream, next a goal and now 100 days from the reality!!! (Julie)
